Digital Switchover
COVER, on behalf of Digital Outreach Ltd, is preparing people for the digital switchover.
COVER are seeking CSOs to work with and help deliver this project, by holding events and presentations; and giving advice on how to switch over to digital TV across the Anglia Tacolneston Transmitter and the Crystal Palace TV region which switch in November 2011 and April 2012.
Local charities can apply though a small grants scheme (see below) to help set up and encourage these events. We can provide the necessary materials, training and advice. Thousands of people are expected to benefit from these events and they can be anything from a coffee morning or lunch club through to community meetings and exhibitions.
The organisations that we are looking to work with must be involved with end users or organisations working with the following:
- Older people
- People who have sensory, mobility and/or dexterity impairments
- People who have learning disabilities
- People who have experienced mental health conditions
- People who do not have English as a first language
- People who are socially isolated
The Anglia digital switch over is happening over three transmitters work on the Sandy Heath and Sudbury transmitter has now finished but work on the Tacolneston transmitter. The Lodnon Switchover take places over one transmitter, Crystal Palace work still continues on this transmitter. Work on the transmitters is carried out in stages see below.

Small Grants Scheme
There is a small grants scheme available for specific pieces of work. Monitoring and evaluation will be carried out to keep Digital Outreach regularly informed about the impact of this work.
